Drone Wedding Photography
About The Drone Wedding Photography Service
As a photographer, I understand the importance of capturing every special moment on your big day. That’s why I now offer drone wedding photography services, to help you capture all the beauty and emotion of your wedding from a unique perspective.
The drone wedding photography service allows me to take stunning aerial photos and videos of your ceremony and reception. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, I can capture everything from the moment you walk down the aisle to when you share your first kiss as husband and wife – it can all be discreetly filmed from above with my drone.
We Work With Your Wedding Photographer
In order to make the most of our time at the location and to arrange the best shots, we can collaborate with your on-location wedding photographer and communicate with them directly to develop a working plan for the day where the traditional wedding photographer and drone photographer work in tandem.
The possibilities offered by aerial photography will completely eclipse the results offered by conventional wedding photography. The cinematic beauty of aerial footage is unmatched, as the drone captures the landscape and stunning vistas around the wedding, and give you a far more dramatic feeling of scale. We can photograph your entire venue, all of your delighted guests, and perhaps even a breathtaking sunset at the end!
About The Drone
I use a high-end DJI Phantom 4 Advanced drone, which is a quadcopter drone equipped with a 1-inch 20MP mini DSLR camera capable of shooting incredibly smooth, stable video at both full HD 1080p and 4K at 60fps to ensure that every shot is crisp and clear. Plus, it has tracking capabilities so I can easily follow you around during the ceremony or reception without having to worry about losing sight of my subject.
I make sure that safety is my top priority when using my drones for wedding photography. I am a fully insured and fully qualified drone pilot registered with the Civil Aviation Authority and I always adhere to strict safety protocols when flying a drone, whether that’s in the middle of nowhere or at a wedding. This ensures that everyone remains safe while still allowing me to get amazing shots from up above.
What our clients say about us
Important Points
- Drones should only be operated on calm, clear days and cannot fly in poor weather, so if it is raining or the wind is too strong on the day, I’m afraid the drone will remain on the ground. We do not take risks with people’s safety so no chances will be taken.
- Some venues do not allow drones – whether that’s due to overhead cables, trees, or being located within a National Park (where drones are not allowed to fly), or just the venue’s own rules. Therefore please ensure you get permission from the venue before hiring us.
- In the UK, you must only hire someone with both the relevant insurance, licence and permission from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Don’t be tempted to let a friend bring their drone along to film your wedding – if there’s an accident, you will likely be personally liable for any injury or damage caused. All of our training and papers are up to date and can be supplied to clients or venues if necessary.

What Happens On The Big Day?
Setting Up & Planning
When you hire me for drone wedding photography, I will come to your venue nice and early to set up my drone before the ceremony. I will discuss the plan for the day with whoever is in charge, whether that is the bride and/or groom themselves, the best man, or a master of ceremonies. In this meeting we will decide when you would like the drone footage and when you do not – because while the drone is quiet, it will still be clearly audible when there is no background ‘hum’, so we only recommend flying during busy moments.
Filming Arrivals
Once everything is ready, I will take off and start capturing aerial footage of your special day. Often this will mainly be the outdoor elements such as the arrivals – to capture sweeping shots of the cars arriving for example, and then the next part we usually film is the guest arrivals.
The Ceremony
If you are having an outdoor wedding, then during the ceremony it can be possible to take shots from above as you walk down the aisle and exchange vows – if filmed from a distance to keep the drone from distracting you. However, we would usually recommend filming re-inactions after the actual vows have been exchanged, and leaving the real thing to the ground-level photography.
The Reception
After the ceremony, I can also capture creative aerial shots of your reception such as the first dance, cake cutting, and other special moments (if this is an outdoor wedding of course!).
Once I have captured all the footage I need, I will edit it together to create a beautiful video of your special day that you can keep forever.
